Alaric, our Godchild, enjoying cake on his first Birthday
About Us
We met in Miami and knew immediately that we were soul mates.
In the spring of 1995, after two years together, we had a commitment ceremony
at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens attended by our closest friends,
co-workers and family members.
What an amazing day it was for us to make this commitment for life!
Michael’s father, an ordained minister, conducted the ceremony just
as he did in the marriage ceremonies of his other three children and Mark’s sister.
Mark feeds our youngest niece, Samantha
Twelve years later, we are still going strong due to honesty, open communication and the simple fact that we are also best friends. We have a strong multi-generational family in Atlanta that celebrates the joy and happiness each family member brings to one another. They are all so excited about our adoption plans and look forward to welcoming a new member into the family.
Community Involvement
We both serve on the board of
For the Kid in All of Us,
a non-profit organization that provides toys to underprivileged kids in
the community.
Mark is also the board chair for a local theater company that focuses on
women playwrights and family oriented theater.
We plan to take our child to the Center for Puppetry Arts,
the Nutcracker and other cultural activities so that he or
she will have an appreciation for the arts when they are older.

Our Careers
Michael is a Sales Director with AT&T.
He enjoys his job as it is challenging yet flexible,
allowing him to occasionally work from home.
We plan to take extensive time off from our jobs during the first few months
of our child’s life.
Mark has spent his career in the environmental engineering field. He finds his job fulfilling as he does his share to improve the environment.
Despite having full-time jobs, we both have the flexibility to volunteer in our child’s classroom and go on field trips to the zoo and Fernbank Science Museum. We also plan to have our nightly family dinners with our child and to keep our weekends free for soccer games and other family activities.

Our Neighborhood We live in a well established, centrally located neighborhood in Atlanta that is teaming with things for kids to do. Our home sits up on a hill overlooking the largest park in Atlanta. We look forward to spending many weekend afternoons there with our child flying kites and throwing frisbees. We have a pool that is a favorite of our nieces and nephews and we plan to teach our child to swim at an early age. We love living here. We will be able to walk with our baby stroller to the fresh market in the park and other numerous shops and restaurants. Our friends look forward to our child joining them for our weekly Saturday morning bagel get-together.
